Mount Zaō is a volcano in the northern part of Japan, about 60 kilometres from Sendai. This was my second visit there, but this time for skiing, not just for sightseeing.
It was my first time snowboarding, but I think I did quite well for a first timer. I had few lessons in snowboarding, but these were in Japanese so I didn't really understand the instruction that well. But once I went down the first time it all started to make sense.
We had an onsen in our hotel which I went into every day, three times a day actually... morning, lunch and evening. Onsens are amazing, they are so relaxing. The water is burning hot, especially in the onsens that are outside. Imagine an atmosphere of -13 celsius mixed with +34-42 celsius hot bath outside. I would recommend the experience to everyone!
We had competitions, activities and games during the evening times, that the teachers and student council had arranged for us - they were good fun. Overall it was an outstanding ski trip.
